Bill A05510, introduced in 2001 and passed in 2002, created the requirement that males be in compliance with the SSS registration to receive a license, permit, or identification card. Submission of the application provides consent for the state to forward information to the SSS for registration purposes. (New York Laws, Article 19, Section 502.7.) Those convicted of draft law violations cannot hold a “civil office” which means, be elected to public office. (NY Public Officers Law, section 3 par. 1)
