SB 290, which was passed in 2001, mandates that any male applicant for a license or a permit who is between 18 and 26 must be registered with the SSS. The applicant must be informed that signing the application constitutes consent for any information to be forwarded to the SSS. (Illinois Statute 625 5/6-106). “Every male born on or after January 1, 1960, and less than 27 years old” must provide proof of registration to be employed by the state. (Illinois Statute 20 415/8d.1) “Selective Service registration compliance documentation” is required of everyone receiving any source of financial aid from the state. (Illinois Statute 105 5/30-17.1). In addition, Illinois Statute 65 5/10-1-36 states that no conscientious objectors may “be appointed to the police department.”
