Regulations and Laws on Military Draft Registration (Selective Service) by State

Driver’s License Linked to Registration? Yes, applicants for a license, permit, or identification card may register with the SSS.

Registration Linked to Access to Higher Education? Yes, must be registered to receive state financial aid or enroll in state funded institutions of higher education.

Registration Required for State Employment? Yes, must be registered for state employment.

In 2002, HB 611,  established a policy whereby those required to register with SSS  “shall be provided an opportunity to fulfill such registration requirements in conjunction with an application for a driver’s license or instruction permit.”  (Idaho Statute 49-306)  “No male person who has attained the age of eighteen (18) years who fails to be in compliance with the federal selective service act shall be eligible for employment” with any state entity. (Idaho Statute 46-504)  Idaho also prohibits those who are not in compliance with SSS law from enrolling in state-supported institutions of higher education or receive state financial aid for education.  (Idaho Statutes 46-501 and 46-503)
