HB 138, from the 2001-2002 regular session, mandated registration with the SSS when applying for a driver’s license, permit, or identification card for all males under the age of 26.. The applicant must be informed that the application will be used for registration with the SSS and that his signature constitutes consent. (Georgia Code 40-5-8). No nonelected state job opportunities may be given to males between the ages of 18 and 26 who have not provided proof of registration or that they are exempt from the registration. (Georgia Code 45-20-20) Applicants for state financial assistance for postsecondary education must certify that they have registered. (Georgia Code 20-3-316) All students in public schools should be informed of their obligation to register with SSS. (Georgia Code 20-2-310)
