Title 43 Chapter 23 Section 005 Part 7 of the Alaska Statutes (AS 43.23.005) stipulates that all men required by the SSS to register must be registered in order to be eligible for Permanent Fund dividends.  (The state distributes money derived from revenue generated by natural resources to residents of Alaska; the amount varies from year to year—2012’s payout was $878.00. Passed in 2002.)  This went into effect on Jan. 1, 2004. Alaska Statute Title 14 Chapter 43 Section 125 Part 9 (AS 14.43.125, and AS 14.43.172) includes the stipulation that those required to register must be registered to receive state financial aid for higher education. AS 39.25.160 stipulates that those who are not in compliance with SSS registration are ineligible for employment with the state. (HB 305E passed in May of 2002 and took effect on January 1, 2004.)
